He has been co-head of the Asian Department of the Max Planck Institute for Patent, Copyright and Competition Law in Munich since 2000. Contributor Bio:  Pattloch, Thomas THOMAS PATTLOCH, LL. M. Eur. (Munich) Dr. iur., studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and was admitted to the German bar in 2001. He studied Chinese in Taipei (1993-1994) and joined the Max Planck Institute in 1998. After a research stay at Beijing University (1998-1999), he finished his Ph. D. on the international private law of intellectual property of the People's Republic of China in 2002, and since July 2003 has been working as an attorney-at-law for the Hamburgbased German law firm Schulz Noack Baerwinkel in Shanghai. Currently, he is chairman of the IPR working group of the EU Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
