The Cappiccie Lawson Evolution Immigration Model (Cleim): an Application to the United States, Germany, and Russia

This book proposes a new model for examining immigration policy: the Cappiccie Lawson Evolution of Immigration Model or CLEIM. The formation of CLEIM is discussed with the final product including factors in the areas of: international, national, influence groups, policy makers, and triggering events. The CLEIM model is then applied to the United States, Germany, and Russia in Chapters II - IV. In these various countries, CLEIM is applied to each immigration policy within the studied immigration policy history. Policy examination of each of these countries starts at the critical time period in immigration history for the particular country under study: the United States in 1882 with the Chinese Exclusion Act, Germany post World War II, and Russia after the end of Communism. In Chapter V, this book explores ways for the Social Work profession to move back to the roots of helping with immigration policy and individual immigrant rights.
