THE WAY WE WERE ... follows the lives of one Hoosier family during the closing years of the 19th Century and continues through a short, relatively affluent period during the 1920''s and the beginning of the Great depression of the 1930s. The author, then a young member of the family, chronicles the trip from his memory and perspective. He describes the early history, travel, travails and amusing episodes in the lives of his brothers, his sister, himself and a few "friends and relations." The narrative continues and concludes with some of his own experiences in the military service during WWll ... The China Civil War ... and the Korean War.
